This week, Enron's Kenneth Lay who had been preparing for sentencing for 6 counts of fraud & conspiracy, and 4 counts of bank fraud pulled the greatest disappearing act we've ever seen. About as ironic as Elvis dieing on the toilet, Kenneth Lay's heart attack seemed inappropriately timed prior to becoming some inmates boy toy.
A simple statement was released from his family in Colorado which indicated nothing of how he faked his death, or what beach he's gone to.
No matter if it's a cover-up of epic proportions, or merely a coincidence that makes justice just a joke, Kenneth Lay somehow escaped getting what he deserved.
Is he pulling a fast one on all of us? Is he is capable of such deception? He is the man who lied to his employees, investors, regulators, and the public about Enron. He cost 4,000 jobs and destroyed billions of people's pensions. This is the same man who stood in front of the courthouse after being convicted guilty proudly stated: "We believe that God in fact is in control, and indeed He does work all things for good for those who love the Lord."
Is Kenneth Lay still alive somewhere? George Bush's buddy and pal? Probably? But wouldn't you expect the same if you we're rich and powerful? |
