Okay, so I went to lunch today, and I noticed something I hadn't noticed in a while. Zoo animals on High Point road. I've seen them there before, but I've become tunneled vision as to my surroundings the last few years. Oddly enough I have no clue as to why they are there. I guess it technically should be classified as Greensboro's only "weird road side attraction". Well there was that guy who made straw men out of the City Council members and put nooses around them, but I'm not sure if that's there anymore.
Anyhow, for those of you not able to picture the zoo animals, they're located on the corner of High Point road, and Merrit, in what used to be a home improvement shopping complex. I know the store has changed into different stuff throughout the years, but it's in the same parking lot as the Libby Hills. So that brings me to a question, I have no answer. Why the heck are there 20 foot tall life-like statues of zoo animals in the parking lot? Is it left over facade of a previous merchant, or is it some homage to the NC ZOO?

There used to be a nice putt-putt golf course across the road from there that went bust a few years ago. I think those animals came from that place. _________________ "Has it ever occurred to you that nothing ever occurs to God?" |

Isn't that the same place where Toysarus used to stand?
I've got pictures of them on LaureatesKids.com... somewhere. _________________ My favorite quote? "I donno, was it something I said, maybe?" -Billy Jones |

That's exactly where they came from. _________________ "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do" -Mark Twain |

It's the old Hechinger's building. Toysrus is down the road a little bit. _________________ Carl Sagan:

I believe the Putt Putt held an auction to get rid of the animals. |
