I see the ad for R Hunter and wonder if you believe she would be a good choice for our supreme court? I do not.
Can the blog owner pick and choose the ads that run on the site? _________________ Have a fantastic day!

They can, but I'm not into censorship. I don't necessarily endorse any ads, but it pays the hosting. So if Rachel wants to pay for my hosting she's more then free to do so. If it's was truly something offensive I'd not run it, but it's an ad, and you can choose to click on it or not. I've thought about turning those off for registered users as I have 99% of all the other ads, but since they are local, I thought they may be of interest to the readers. I'm currently contemplating that, and may change my mind.
Ads are a tough thing, and not everyone agrees with them. I try to minimize the exposure for registered users, but ultimately it's part of what has made this site possible. I particularly like the Google ads, because it's sometimes funny and interesting to write an article and see what ad Google decides to put with it. I often find myself interested in the product or service, and end up looking into the ad. Ultimately I'm still taking a look at Roch's ad service, and its ability to fund the board as an additional revenue source. I think the first check from him was under $13.00 for a partial month. But it keeps the site up, and more importantly contributes to the normalizing and acceptance of citizen created media. I want to support Roch in his venture, because projects like his (greensboro101) has enabled this site, and many local bloggers the ability to form a community that might not be here otherwise. |
