Can somebody answer this? |

We keep talking about a "war on terror."
This is the very first "war" I've ever heard of where NO ONE knows what winning looks like. Even in the Cold War, the "War on Poverty" and the ever-popular "War on Drugs" you could make reasonable guesses of what would constitute "victory."
Will we ever have a chance at "victory" here? Or are we now set to send troops all around the world looking in spider holes for suicide bombers for the rest of our nation's history?
Just wondering. Because so far, I've not heard ANYONE say what our actual goal is here. Without that, it seems to me that we're in the ultimate no-win situation. _________________ Agitators are a set of interfering, meddling people, who come down to some perfectly contented class of the commuinity and sow the seeds of discontent among them. I think our goal should be to protect ourselves. Sometimes that means going on the offensive and other times it doesn't. Success is how well we are protecting our citzens and our way of life. _________________ "Has it ever occurred to you that nothing ever occurs to God?" |

But do you think this is a war that can EVER end? We're "protecting ouselves" now, and the war goes on. Truth to tell, I'm hoping to become a grandparent sometime in the next few years. I don't want any grandchildren of mine growing up in a world that resembles nothing so much as "1984." |
