I don't think time has a beginning or an end.

There you go getting all factual and scientific on me Rebelsnake!

I think that a christian would argue the time would go on but it would be bad because all the lambs would be kickin it with J.C. at his place.

I vote BS. The book of the Apocalypse was written with complex imagery that was commonly known to Jews for centuries -- the style was known as apocryphal. Daniel, Joel and Ezekiel (among others) were done the same way.

There is no "prediction for thousands of years in the future" stated or implied in any of these books. Of course, that simple fact hasn't even slowed down the folks who enjoy scaring their followers into a frenzy of religious expectations for no reason... other than perhaps to get them to donate more to the church.

The evidence would certainly support this. I'm REALLY interested in what our resident christians, muslims, etc have to say about this and how they are interpreting their doctrine.

Just a hunch. Seeing that PFA meets there once a month I figured you might have been there more than once.

Oh that! I've been in the building plenty of times, but I've only attended one of the church's services. Is this germain to this topic, or anything I've said here?

All the bible is true.

So you agree it was referring to events as HanShotJFK pointed out or do you hold the common belief that it was referring to the downfall of the Roman Empire?

HanShotJFK is right, nothing points to it being about an 'end of all time' thousands of years in the future, and there is strong evidence to support other ideas.

Thoughts?

Quite a sweeping statement. And using the word "true" there will get you into some trouble... "truth" being an extremely slippery term. For instance, are you saying that the Bible is true in a literal sense, or as an allegory? Is it scientifically true, or metaphysically true, in your opinion? Or what?

Everything in the Bible is true. Now, Revelation and other books in the Bible are told in a "story" type sense. Doesn't make it any less true. I wholely believe we are in the end times. This could last til tomorrow, a minute from now, or another 1000 years.

Its up to the rest of us to live our life how we see fit. I'm here to tell everyone that if you don't live it according to the Bible, you'll be held in judgement on judgement day.

Finally, Jovick has a playmate. Welcome aboard serendipityx7. I doubt we will agree on anything religious, but I certainly welcome your input.

So you agree then that god punishes the innocent for the crimes of the guilty.

That's not what the Bible says. Please read Exodus, Numbers, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel... and pretty much all of the rest of the Bible. I'll provide specific references if you're still mystified after doing your homework. Mr. Green

Daniel survived the lion's den, I'm pretty sure I can as well. Wink

I enjoy debating about all sorts of topics. I'm often on the right-wing side. I don't get miffed unless the debate turns personal. I enjoy debating with respectful debaters. Laughing

Okay, back to the original topic.

RebelSnake, where does that come from?

Old Testament or New? The Old Testament is the Old covenant between God and Man. The new testament is the New coventant between God and Man.

Now, its not to say that the Old testament is false, its just not something we live by today (not all of it). Otherwise we'd still be offering sacrifices, which we don't...Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for our sin.
