2009 Television Premiers
Well, I watched nothing of last nights premiers but did DVR some things.. hopefully I will get around to looking at it soon.
Without further adue, lets look at tonight's offerings through the weekend:
FlashForward (ABC) series premiere (I will check this out. Hopefully it will be better done than the never-ending "Lost")
. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS) 10th season premiere (NO! NO! NO!)
. Greys Anatomy (ABC) 6th season premiere (eh, take it or leave it.)
. The Mentalist (CBS) 2nd season premiere (Who exactly green lit another season of this??)
And making their season's end:
. Animal Armageddon (Animal Planet) 1st season finale (Whatever that is)
Looking ahead to Friday the 25th...
. Brothers (Fox) series premiere (No idea, but given Fox's track record, you might get 4 episodes out before being canceled.. if you're lucky)
. Ghost Whisperer (CBS) 5th season premiere (Ugh... I HATE this show, but still find Hewitt strangely attractive)
. Law & Order (NBC) 20th season premiere (20 years?? Seriously?? WOW)
. Smallville (The CW) 9th season premiere (I had no idea this was still on)
. Dollhouse (Fox) 2nd season premiere (I cant believe they gave this another season! I guess they learned their lesson with Firefly. I purposefully didnt watch it because I was sure they'd cancel it. I guess now I will be renting the season one BluRay. Joss Whedon writes some fantastic characters and dialog)
. Medium (CBS) 6th season premiere (Kill it! Kill it till it doesn't move!)
. Numb3rs (CBS) 6th season premiere (Ive seen a couple of episodes and it kept me entertained for a bit. Might be worth checking out if you are a fan)
And departing on Friday are two shows (Ive never heard of)
. Brick City (Sundance) 1st season finale
. Making Over America with Trinny & Susannah (TLC) 1st season finale
Last but CERTAINLY not least, we have the weekend premiers...
SATURDAY:
. 48 Hours Mystery (CBS) 13th season premiere (not bad.. but certainly not worth making a point to see)
. Saturday Night Live (NBC) 35th season premiere (You know, they shined during last years political season, not sure how they will do without that cash cow. Musical guest U2 and the ever-vacant Megan Fox as host)
SUNDAY:
The greatest TV night of the week in my opinion.. seriously, it doesn't get better and makes me wish I could record more than two channels at a time!
. 60 Minutes (CBS) 42nd season premiere (Must watch journalism. Investigative reporting at its finest)
. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC) 7th season premiere (I find this kind of thing rather exploitative)
. The Amazing Race (CBS) 15th season premiere (Never watched it. Too many well scripted shows on in this time slot to bother)
. The Simpsons (Fox) 21st season premiere (the old standby. Great at times and often heartfelt. The Simpsons have wavered here and there at times, but have always come back strong)
. The Cleveland Show (Fox) series premiere (Its by Seth MacFarlane.. I'll be checking it out)
. Desperate Housewives (ABC) 6th season premiere (Never watched a whole episode.. seems .. "eh". If I wanted to see desperate housewives Id hit the bars on Wednesday nights)
. Dexter (Showtime) 4th season premiere (you know, this isnt too bad from the episodes Ive seen. I will probably catch up on BluRay)
. Family Guy (Fox) 8th season premiere (Will watch. One of the funniest and most relevant shows on TV)
. American Dad (Fox) 5th season premiere (Will watch. Not up to par with the greatness of Family Guy, but entertaining most of the time.)
. Brothers & Sisters (ABC) 4th season premiere (no idea)
. Californication (Showtime) 3rd season premiere (YES YES YES A MILLION TIMES YES!!!! One of my favorite shows ever!!)
. Cold Case (CBS) 7th season premiere (Uh...no)
. My Fair Wedding (WE) 2nd season premiere (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....no)
Thats it... (if anyone is still reading) hope some of this helped you plan your evenings and weekend!

EDIT *Update for 09/23/09
Well as I predicted I avoided all TV last night. Ended up checking out a Bluray that was released yesterday. Yup... got my geek on with the Star Trek, Next Generation movie set release. DON'T JUDGE ME WITH YOUR JUDGEY EYES!!! Hey, its a vice.
Tonight it appears we have more new shows to look at.. I have to say, I am happy that there are so few "reality" shows being released this year. Now if we could convince creative people in Hollywood to quit trying to make "the next ER with a twist", stupid psychic detective shows, and umpteen seasons of mood-lighting-future-tech-crime-scene-investigation shows, and concentrate on fresh ideas, we'd be doing good.
Anyway, here is the list of tonights offerings (Along with my award winning commentary and charm)
. Mercy (NBC) series premiere (Looks really unoriginal from the previews)
. The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS) 5th season premiere (You know Ive never seen this but Julia Louis Dryfus got pretty hot after Seinfeld!)
. Gary Unmarried (CBS) 2nd season premiere (Haven't seen it)
. Criminal Minds (CBS) 5th season premiere (See above)
. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC) 11th season premiere (11th season?? Wow, I guess there are a lot of special victims out there. Is that about mentally disabled victims or what?)
. Modern Family (ABC) series premiere (not sure about this one but I might check it out. Christopher Lloyd is executive producing this, and Im instantly interested in anything ol' Doc Brown does! )
. Cougar Town (ABC) series premiere (Not sure about this one either.. but the title intrigues me a bit having been cougar bait on more than one occasion in my day.
. CSI: New York (CBS) 6th season premiere (Complete garbage. These CSI Shows need to crackin die)
. Eastwick (ABC) series premiere (I was going to make a joke referencing the old movie The Witches of Eastwick but holy hell, it really is based on that!)
Making their off season exits tonight:
. Man vs. Wild (Discovery) 4th season finale (Eh, kinda like survivor but even worse ...if thats possible)
. Toddlers & Tiaras (TLC) 2nd season finale (What... the... frak...)
. Holidate (SoapNet) 1st season finale (No idea, sounds like future porn)
Well, I guess I will DVR a couple of things tonight. So far though, a pretty "ho-hum" Wednesday.

EDIT *Update for 09/22/09
Last night, How I Met Your Mother started strong. But honestly I'm beginning to wonder how much longer they can stretch this show out. Messing with formula only works if you dont spring back at some later date. Unfortunately American TV likes to run shows into the ground (read: Cash cows like Friends) as opposed to wrapping them up in a relatively thought out way (READ: Battlestar Galactica). Time will tell.
I also caught the 2 hour premier of House. And as I mentioned below, thought it was fantastic. Having not been a real fan of the show due to its aforementioned 'formula', seeing something that well written was a pleasent surprise. House meets One Flew Over The Coo Koo's Nest.
Today I update with the Tele premiers for Tuesday, September 22nd (along with unrequested commentary naturally).
. NCIS (CBS) 7th season premiere (Im really sick of these shows)
. Ruby & the Rockits (ABC Family) 1st season finale (no idea.. never heard of it)
. NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS) series premiere (Oh yeah, we need this like a hole in the head)
. The Forgotten (ABC) series premiere (Looks like another stupid paranormal show..YAY FRESH IDEAS!
. The Good Wife (CBS) series premiere (Looks interesting. Doubt I will watch though)
. The Naughty Kitchen with Chef Blythe Beck (Oxygen) series premiere (Yeah, I'll watch Oxygen when I get that lobotomy)
. Table for 12 (TLC) 2nd season premiere (No idea)
TV Shows (summer replacements) reaching their stopping points tonight:
. Warehouse 13 (Syfy) 1st season finale
. The Colony (Discovery) 1st season finale
. Daddys Girls (MTV) 2nd season finale
. House of Jazmin (MTV) 1st season finale
So I guess its a night of no television for me. Thats fine, I spent too much time in front of it last night. If anyone catches any of those shows and wants to comment, feel free to do so.

09/21/09
Hi all,
I'm pretty selective over the TV I watch, but as it happens tonight is the season premier of one show I do watch... "How I Met Your Mother" makes its 5th season premier tonight at 8pm. I caught the season premier of "The Office" last Thursday, and it was decent. I really wish they'd end that show though and give it some credibility.
The new show that came on after it "Community" wasn't too bad for a pilot, I'd like to see where it goes from here.
Naturally the one show I really like, "Mad Men" had its 3rd season premier on AMC a few weeks ago. As luck would have it I missed two episodes smack dab in the middle so I had to DVR last nights episode and am waiting to watch it when I can "acquire" the missed eps...
Also tonight (09-21-09).. along with my personal commentary which you didnt ask for but will get anyway
. Dancing With the Stars (ABC) 9th season premiere (CRAP)
. Heroes (NBC) 4th season premiere (Was good, now CRAP)
. House (Fox) 6th season premiere (Havent gotten into it, but the episodes I saw were good although formulaic)
. How I Met Your Mother (CBS) 5th season premiere (Pure awesomeness)
. Accidentally On Purpose (CBS) series premiere (No idea)
. Two and a Half Men (CBS) 7th season premiere (CRAP.. who watches this show??)
. The Big Bang Theory (CBS) 3rd season premiere (eh, it used to be something to watch waiting on HIMYM, but I never got into it)
. Brick City (Sundance) series premiere (No idea)
. Castle (ABC) 2nd season premiere (Heard some good stuff, havent seen it)
. CSI: Miami (CBS) 8th season premiere (Hate the CSI shows)
. Madventures (Travel) series premiere (No idea)
Of course, the bright end of my tunnel this week is the season premier of Californication on Sunday!
