What happened to Kansas? I was just thinking about that on the way to work, but in a slightly more global context. I think it's the spirit of the Taliban, and the Crusaders -- the desire for control, for strife. I was brought up to respect strangers, not bother them if they weren't bothering you.
But these religious weeds can't tolerate having neighbors who think differently from themselves. They buy into the mistaken belief that life will be ideal if only everyone is orthodox... as THEY define it. They don't understand that such an ideal not only is impossible, but that following that notion only leads to fighting and making life a lot less enjoyable for all, themselves included.
