Bloody strange night

Sitting here at my computer, waiting for my wife to get home from a long hard day at the toy store, ad I hear a loud horn in the distance. Then I see a fire truck prowl past the house, emergency lights flashing. Are they looking for the location of an emergency call?
They go from one end of our cul-de-sac to the other. I'm worried some neighbor is in the process of losing their house.
Nope... I finally realize: they're bloody playing "Jingle Bells" on their horn. Spreading season's joy and greetings on the longest night of the year.
Does me no good, considering I've had a full month of increasingly bad news, the worst news of my life. But at least no one in the neighborhood is dead, I reckon.
