Bathroom Renovations.

You may remember our Valentino colored bathroom from back in the Daughtry days of Greensboring, when people asked me to post pictures of my house, since I posted Chris's.

Of course it's been a few years, and the motif is looking a little bit dated. Dad surprised us by having the floor tiled while we were gone. I'm going new-world Tuscan now. Unfortunately I'm on day two of merely priming the surfaces. It's taking alot of primer to cover up the pink, and to top it all off I'm sick.

I really wanted to do Bella and Birch a new type of paint that goes on dry after seeing it on HGTV, unfortunately I just don't have the money. (Europe is expensive)
So I think we're going back to a white ceiling and then a Tuscan solid color on the wall. Dad replaced the sink and counter, and the toliet is only about 2 years old.

I bought a new vanity and an Energy star (being green :mrgreen:

) light fixture that uses only 24watts compared to the 4-light fixture that use to use 400 watts.

The fixture isn't mounted yet, and it has a cover, and some roman accenting on the sides which hopefully will look really nice.

You might want to check out Valspar "American Tradition" paint. It's made in High-Point and sold at Lowe's. Best paint I've ever used and it generally only takes one coat. If you have a "tight", poorly ventilated space, like a bathroom, you can go with a mildew-resistant paint or buy something like a Kils additve for the same purpose to dump into it.

I saw Kilz and Valspar yesterday... Honestly I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff... In fact this is the first time I've ever used primer.... but it seemed to make sense.

Yeah, I'm on my second coat today. Since I'm sick, I'll probably hold off till tomorrow on the third coat of primer....
Right now I just have the ceiling color (white) but, I'll look at Valspar when we pick the wall color. We've got a whole living room to do soon too.

I figured I'd post an update on the renovations going on in the Bathroom, as we are really all done now. A little bit of cleaning up is necessary, but for the most part we're done. Here's a picture of the ceramic tile that my parents graciously installed for us.

Here you can see our new paint and shower curtain rod. It actually curves away from the tub making the shower feel much bigger then it really is. Best part it's spanking new chrome unlike the 20 year old rod of rust that use to be in there. Good deal for only $25.00 at Big Lots on High Point road. (Although I do suggest adding a third anchor screw to the installation. Makes it much more secure.)

Above is the new polished steel toilet paper holder. It's so European, and feels so riche. (still must install door handle)

Here's the Swedish shower system... It's a lame cheap-o version, but works perfectly and for only $20.00 it sure beats spending $800.00 on a more expensive version.

Above is a little souvenir from London we picked up knowing about our renovations. We've just got to finish painting the door before it goes on.
