cortisone shot - ouch

Been having trouble with my right hand for a few months. Lot of pain and don't know from what. Might have been when my now deceased dog bit me. But that's another story. Most of the problem went away with some rest except my middle finger has been very swollen with limited range of motion. Only really hurt once in a while.... at night it would wake me up. But that pretty much went away. Just the swelling on the bottom of the finger remained.
Doc's did and ultrasound and it turns out I'm not pregnant. But do have swelling and fluid inside the tendon sheath. So I got a cortisone shot today to address it. Right into tendon via through my palm, just below the main knuckle.
First they numb the injection sight. I think they must have to boil that numbing solution because I would have sworn my hand was on fire.
Next come the cortisone, which has to injected directly inside the tendon sheath. They know it's in the tendon sheath by sticking the square rusty needle into your hand and make you bend the effected finger. If the needle starts to dance and send waves of pain of your arm, it's in there.
He's says ok here we go. I'm thinking the worst is over ... my hand is numb and I don't have to flex it with a shard of metal sticking in it any more. I think I'm good.
I thought wrong.
Felt like they inflated my finger, especially the knuckles, to about 80 psi. I let an S-bomb slip out of my mouth and the nurse playfully said "We have a no swearing policy". I quickly retorted telling her to "bugger" off (but sub the f-bomb for bugger). Doc almost wet his pants he was laughing so hard. Luckily the nurse had a sense of humor.
Lots of ice and some tramadol have me on the mend. I'm supposed to start seeing results in 2-4 days. Keeping my fingers crossed.... on my left hand.
