Now Available At Hobby Lobby: Christmas Trees?

by Pineview Style | Published on August 22nd, 2008, 2:07 pm | Life
Ah Ha Yes!!! I guess we now can say Christmas is upon us!! I mean, football season hasn't even officially started yet, but yet some places have want you to go ahead and get your trees and accessories now. Of course, there's no time like the present!

From a store I've never heard of called "Hobby Lobby" in the small town of Hutchinson, Kansas. This picture was taken on August 12th. Seeing the Christmas trees this early literally made me sick to my stomach.

And Christmas music on the radio stations the day after Halloween? Oh yeah!

Ho Ho Ho!!!

Well, Hallmark has had their Xmas ornaments out for over a month. It's like the end of "A Christmas Carol" -- Scrooge is keeping the holiday in his heart ALL YEAR ROUND.

I saw them clearing room for them in Greensboro weeks ago. Already had tons of it out.

I went to Garden Ridge the other day and felt like I was going through timewarps as I ran into Halloween decorations, autumn and Thanksgiving decorations, and Christmas trees. And there were a bunch of shelves empty and ready to display tree ornaments and so on.

Man, we haven't even had Labor Day yet!

Yikes... I thought you were going to say that the empty shelves would house Easter decorations. Wouldn't THAT be a hoot? 8)

You mean, I've already got to start photoshopping our winter-time theme for Greensboring? Didn't I just finish this one?

We saw your comments and would like to explain why we set Christmas early. In our business model, we begin setting our Christmas and Fall departments on June 1st. This is for many reasons, and we have done this for more than 15 plus years. The early shipment allows us to meet the needs of our designers and display merchandisers that have to shop early. We also supply many items to our and crafting customers who make and sell items at “Craft Shows” during the months of September through December. They need these items early in order to make what they sell.

It also allows us to buy the products at "off-season" production times. This gives us lower costs that allow us to be able to advertise most of the Seasonal categories at 1/2 off during the season.

What's wrong with Christmas trees being out a little early? With all the horrible things going on in the world, looking at beautiful Christmas trees and dreaming about the holidays is a wonderful diversion. I love thinking about decorating, baking, and family for the holidays. I was at Hobby Lobby last Saturday and saw the most wonderful flocked tree with red berries, I can't wait to buy it!!!!! Eight years ago my mother died unexpectedly, she loved all holidays. When I decorate now, I think of her and how much she loved this time of year. Keep it up Hobby Lobby, I love shopping at your store!!!!!!

I don't mind the early Christmas decorations at a store like Hobby Lobby. It gives people a chance to see what is out there and if they need to purchase a tree....they can get prepared for the cost of it. Maybe save up for it. Buying one right at Christmas time is difficult with all the other purchases people have to think of.

Perhaps we should have leap christmases and every 4 years we just skip it and put the money into the mortgage? That would be smart... I'd suppose...

Well, tonight I stopped by CVS. All the Halloween stuff was being consolidated, and the empty shelves were being filled with xmas stuff.

Odd that you posted to this thread, I was just thinking about this thread. In fact, A.P. even knew I was thinking about it....

but I digress....

I was at Hobby Lobby at 9am for the morning rush into the building...

Christmas was in full swing there.... Halloween stuff was on the "marked down" isle...

The good news is they're doing like a 40% off on Xmas stuff... So I got Shannon's balls for like cheap.
