Spousal Abuse

Let me preface this by saying a couple nights ago I was watching one of these MSNBC specials about people living through traumatic experiences, and one of the segments had a women who called 911 unsure of what she thought she had seen of a man forcing a girl into a car. She ended up being right, and troopers saved the girl from a man driving a car with duct tape and knives in the trunk.Fast forward to yesterday. I'm driving down 421 when their is this giant white van on shoulder. As I approach it I can see a man and women about 50 meters walking to it. My first thought is "Awww that sucks they must be out of gas", but I don't see a gas can. Then as I'm just about to pass their position on the road, the guy turns around very angrily lifts his hand like he is going to bitch slap the women and yells something.
That's when I pass by. I don't think he actually hit her, but suddenly my mind is wondering what's going on. Is it just a verbally aggressive fight brought on by the situation of being broken down, or is this women seriously in a situation where this man might get aggressive? I really debated about picking up the cell and just calling in saying "I'm not sure..." but somehow based on the limited amount of information I rationalized to myself I was over-reacting, my thoughts somewhat persuaded by the show I had seen the other day. Still though, I wonder If I made the right choice.
