Tops on American book lists? Da Bible!

I liked one comment at the top of the article:

Mark Twain once wrote that a classic is a book everyone has but few people read.

Which is most likely what happens for Americans that "love" the Bible, and a few others on the list. I mean... "Atlas Shrugged"?? Are you kidding me?!

But going in on the subject a little more deeply, I can't help wondering. Considering the number of people that I know who are able to read, but tend mostly to use that talent for reading road signs and price tags, I'd have thought "None" would be right up there near the top.

A few years back when I was consistently being pressured by my Christian counterparts about my declining trust in religion, my first question after them firing off some random bible verse was:

Have you read the bible?

They'd say yes.

I'd ask, all the way through, cover to cover?

Usually 50/50 here.

Finally, "Recently?"

Barely any....

Then I'd ask them, that since your basing your entire life and your entire belief system of the words in this book, don't you think you should know it better?

It's at this point they either get made, or ashamed, or come up with some sort of fruity defense.
This is our chance to change things, this is our destiny.

Hell Liv, why READ something when they have someone "interpret" it for them and TELL them what to think once or twice a week?
