Traditional Media versus Online.

Today... I sat down at lunch and was reading a REAL newspaper. I don't read physical newspapers much anymore because I usually get my news online where it's more convenient but today was different. The weird thing that caught my attention was while reading a long article looking for something I had this compulsion to use the search feature. It took me a moment to realize that papers don't have search functions. And a few minutes later when turning the page I felt my arm go forward to grab my computer mouse. Of course that didn't work out.

That was my experience in the real world today and it scares me so I'm going back into the web world where I can hide and be comfortable again. It's too scary and backwards out in there real world. How did my parents ever survive without a search function and a mouse?

Yeah me too. I've found myself tapping text on an article in a vain attempt to open a hyperlink. If I watch TV I have my laptop on my lap (where else) and checking out news stories and CSI innaccuracies to the great annoyance of my family.

Here's to the first HTTP wireless brain implant!
All stupid ideas pass through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is ridiculed. Third, it is ridiculed

The biggest problem locally in my opinion is the lack of news. It's all filler junk. Occasionally you'll get a good story, but most of the time it's just crap. My short time as a journalist in college led me to believe its an outdated, flawed process anyways. By the time the journalist's piece is chopped, hacked and edited... it's hardly personal anymore.

Anyhow... I enjoy the smell of the paper. Yes smell. Sunday mornings, Coffee, Doughnuts, and a fresh newspaper that leaves your fingertips black is often one of the most relaxing environments for me.
