Titanic Watches... I think I'll pass

by SouthernFriedInfidel | Published on April 13th, 2007, 11:13 am | Life
Watches made with material salvaged from the Titanic? Um -- no thanks, anyway...

Sheesh!

Case metal from an alloy made with Titanic hull steel, face paint made with Titanic hull - they missed out making lumminous paint from phosphorus recovered from Titanic victim's bones

I wonder how many watches that 1.5 kg of hull metal will actually make.

Some people will do anything for money.
Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you "choose" to respond to it.

I can see wanting to own a piece of history, but in a watch? I'd think a model boat with some of it in it would be more appropriate.

Still a bit ghoulish, though.

I thinks it's pretty cool... I can understand the objection in the tragedy, but would you feel the same way if it was a watch made from a relic of the ancient egyptians, or romans?

I own a Roman coin. I expect it's unlikely that it came from a Roman grave, off the eyes of a corpse. If I learned otherwise, yes I would feel the same way.

Will it be waterproof?
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second,it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

At the price they're charging, I wouldn't even let my wrist sweat on it.

I guess the idea to sell boats made out of the salvaged metal didnt go over that well.

I could see how owning a piece of the Titanic could be interesting. I've recovered some artifacts from wrecks and it's cool.

It's just that in this case the link is so tenuous as to be silly. Some portion of the atoms in the case and face paint came from the Titanic? Well some of the carbon and oxygen atoms in my body were once part of Julius Ceaser.
