Duke Power and charity

My wife and I have this plan with Duke Power that evens out our payments over the course of the year. Makes it easy to do the budgeting when you don't have those seasonal swings between heating and cooling. That said, last month, when the bill came in, it had a section offering us the choice of adding some money for their "Share the Warmth" charity program, where we could help pay for heat for customers who couldn't meet their payments.

We decided to put in $5 for the program to start off. The receipt came back itemized as having paid our regular monthly charge, and $5 was sent to "Share the Warmth."

Yesterday, we got an e-mail from Duke Power. They are now saying that our account shows a $5 credit. Apparently, their accounting system didn't know what to make of the extra $5 we sent for their own crackin' program.

Good one, Duke!

We were on the equal bill thing... We have Progress Energy since we're just south of the boro, and were on it for 11 months when I missed the bill by a week and they kicked us off....

Progress Energy customer services is like rabid, foaming at the mouth lizard monkeys whom hate their customers.

One time they came out and trimmed our trees.... actually everyone's, without asking.... which as I understand it, they can do... ho hum, actually saves me the job.... but they also ripped the aerial drop from the house with their truck bucket and left it dangling, till I called Progress Energy and they acted like they had never heard of such a thing... Ended up explaining for 15 minutes that it's "The line that goes from the pole to the the house"... yada yada...

...Finally they came out, drilled a completely new hole into the siding without patching the old one... never came to the door, never said "hey we're here we're queer" or "hey I'm done."... just tossed his ladder up and drove off...
This is our chance to change things, this is our destiny.
