Okay, so maybe that really isn’t breaking news around here. Sometimes we do get a little (or a lot off topic) as noted here: http://greensboring.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11168, which spawned this thread as well as here: http://greensboring.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11441 where not only Liv shares her thoughts, but a picture as well. Please disregard the trolling.

You’ll have to look at the results to see which ones were occasions where we actually went off topic. You may even want to note which users used specific phrases the most. At a glance, I think there are some contributors who should get special awards where they are given the phrase as a "middle name"… For example, see “I digress”
I did happen to notice that “off on a tangent” seems to be the words used most to point out another user rather than referring to one’s self. I wonder why that is…

Anyway, here's a first breakdown:
30 occurrences of “I digress”

70 occurrences of “off topic”

2 occurrences of “off subject”

8 occurrences of “off on a tangent”

If you can think of any phrases I forgot, feel free to add them here... hell, I didn't even check "derail/derailed" and that's in the subject line!

Two occurrences of "Monkey Nuts" which also coincidentally is off topic

Obviously you do not know what a hyperbolic chamber actually is. That's ok. I'm used to you pretending to know what you are talking about BecauseHeLives, 2009 August 16

with the idea of things we love, like, or hate, somewhere in this mix of 209 results is a variety of what we think sucks

To go off on a tangent, Obama ( 1,070) is slightly less talked about than Jesus (1220) but "A Person" is more popular than either (1520)

Well I didn't google you, but I did google google and googling.

I guess we can up those results by 3 and 1 respectively after this post.

Hmmm I get 724 for BecauseHeLives

I get 2,560, for Liv, near enough

I think BHL had been googling himself far too long

If I google BHL within quotation marks "becausehelives" I get 1170. Also bhl has about 772.

Frak. I googled BHL before googling AP???

I don't understand what Google is doing.

the search

"becausehelives" site:greensboring.com

returns 1160 hits

becausehelives site:greensboring.com

only 719 hits, while

"jovick" OR "bhl" OR "becausehelives" site:greensboring.com

returns 1050 hits

I can't work out the logic. Performing the combined search ought to return more posts, not less.

It's popping of different data centers I suspect, and I'm not quite sure what the status of the "Caffeine" update, so it could be popping off various algorithms too.

I don't think that's it, it seems quite consistent

There must be some quirk in the algorithm

Would make sense. One the algorhythm's I wrote on this site oddly enough required a "quirk" similar to that. Each time the data was requested it would based, on where it was requested from, return a different start point in the data, and return it either forward or backwards. Allowed for a lot more variance of data to be available, yet still returns the same exact data everytime if you start from the same point.

Not that, that made any sense.... but I think "quirks" are simply apart of programming algorhythms, especially when you're including a large amount of data...

...but you would probably know better than I.

"Quirk" was one of my aliases so I might be at fault here.

aliases reminds me of multiple personalities which reminds me of "you people" which had 91... though I did see at least one place where "you" was the end of one sentence, and "people" was the beginning of the next.
