My Family Thinks...OK, no they don't

by Nfidel | Published on August 30th, 2009, 9:35 pm | Life
I've written before about the religious emails my family sends me. They all know I'm an atheist, but, until recently, the gluges kept clogging my inbox. Now I have a relative who completely misread me politically. This I really don't understand. Regarding religion and my extended family, I usually say nothing except to respond to a particularly offensive religious email. With the political emails though, I most always reply either with my argument against the crap I'm sent or at least a link to a webpage that debunks said crap.

Then today I get what is quoted below. Anyone here who reads my posts and even people who ignore me know what is quoted does not describe me. I'm just wondering if any of your families send you junk they obviously know isn't welcome, doesn't describe you or outright offends you? Do they do this to anger us or do they think we'll magically "see the light" and switch to their team? Or are they clueless or maybe in denial? Enjoy the email and the irony of someone who I thought knew me applying this redneck test to me.

We have enjoyed the redneck jokes for years. It's time to take a reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family, country and God. If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my life, I'd choose a half dozen or so rednecks to back me up. Tire irons, squirrel guns and grit -- that's what rednecks are made of. I hope I am one of those. If you feel the same, pass this on to your redneck friends. Ya'll know who ya ’ll are.

You might be a redneck if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.

You might be a redneck if: You still say ' Christmas' instead of 'Winter Festival.'

You might be a redneck if: You bow your head when someone prays.

You might be a redneck if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.
If you got this email from me, it is because I believe that you, like me, have just enough Red Neck in you to have the same beliefs as those talked about in this email.

God Bless the USA !

There seems to be a disconnect between:
Tire irons, squirrel guns and grit -- that's what rednecks are made of

and the examples they give, which are to do with religion.

It would seem that Bibles, praying and Christmas -- that's what rednecks are made of

Apparently if he had to stand before a dozen terrorists, who threatened his life, those half dozen or so rednecks would be busy bowing their heads, praying and wrapping Christmas presents with one hand over their hearts. No doubt the terrorists would too and they'd see who's God has the biggest package.
All stupid ideas pass through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is ridiculed. Third, it is ridiculed

I'm glad to say that I have no religious friends or relatives who send me this sort of rubbish. I do have one friend who occasionally forwards chain emails... which I invariably delete unread. Life's too short to bother with such bologna.

Yes I get crap all the time. It's funny, because most people don't know how to BCC, so you get everyone's email addy too.... one, time I replied all with a snopes or what such rebuttal.... and I think I started the current republican movement... so be careful.
This is our chance to change things, this is our destiny.

What gets me is when you look at the number of government workers and major corporation who are getting these emails... you really have to question the "reality".
