We've got a similar law down by us in the burbs. Here the law was used to remove demographically lower income minorities vehicles from their properties. Makes me wonder how they're going to deal with the increase in number of complaint calls they're going to get from neighbors reporting neighbors... seems to me like shooting one another might be a better concern at the moment.

Greensboro, NC -- Come July 2009, it will matter to Greensboro where you park, even at home.

The city is outlawing parking on lawns and setting rules on how to "properly" park at home. The ordinance applies to homes and duplexes.

Other parking rules that will be enforced with the ordinance:

* Parking areas must also be clearly marked and maintained.
* Parking spaces and driveways must also be built with a hard, all-weather surface such as asphalt, concrete, brick, or gravel.
* Grass and dirt areas will also not be acceptable for parking spaces and driveways.
* No more than 40% of the front yard may be used for parking. This change will not impact temporary events or short term gatherings. Via

I think another major demographic that will be affected by this will be college students and the off-campus apartments and houses they rent. There is nothing wrong with trying to beautify the city a bit but it appears that somebody downtown may have too much time on their hands.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second,it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

I just don't know how it can be enforced.
