The other day I got an email asking me about Greensboro, and what there was to do here. The person said they were coming to visit and wanted some ideas. I had to think long and hard because there was so much to do in Greensboro. In the end, I picked some of my favorites that I tend to take our visitors when they come. Then I figured this would probably make a good blog post, and I'm sure some of you have some to add... so, in no particular order I present my:
Top 10 Greensboro Attractions
10. Bog Gardens
I always think of Ray Bradbury's A sound of thunder every time I go to this park. It's certainly my favorite of all of Greensboro's beautiful parks. Adorned with an elevated boardwalk, winding through 8,000 trees & plants, and flowers, it's the metaphorical Garden of Eden right here in Greensboro.
9. Greensboro Coliseum
The Greensboro Coliseum has always been the pride of our fair city. From Grateful Dead concerts, to the ACC, to the new Greensboro Revolution football team, its always exciting to sit in one of the South's biggest entertainment facilities.
8. Guilford Courthouse National Military Park
The interesting thing about our military park is its the only one I've been to that has a drive-thru into history. It's always a nice destination for out of town visitor, who we've worn out taking to other attractions to take a moto-visit here. The museum is worth a stop for some historic soaps from Old Salem, they sell and to see the educational movie they play.
7. Natural Science Center of Greensboro
Sometime I think people don't realize how cool this place is. It's kinda hard to find if your not looking for it, but well worth the journey. My kids love it with a beautiful zoo, and hands on historical exhibits, including life-size dinosaurs, and playrooms for the kids.

6. Old Mill of Guilford
One of the first place we take visitors in the Old Mill. A working grist mill with the best pineapple cornbread in the world. Great natural foods, including honeys and jams. I must say I used to love their little wooden swinging bridge over the river which is now closed, but you can still walk down to the river for some picturesque pictures.
5. Historic Downtown Greensborough
Sometimes its just neat to get out of the car and go walking in old downtown Greensboro. You can really find some unique shops, with antiques and old memorabilia. Several interesting places to eat are also located in the area.
4. Emerald Point
During the summer, no other place in Greensboro probably attracts more customers then Wet' N Wild's Emerald point. The once famed amusement park meant to have rides and a mall, fell short of its original expectations, but still remains the largest water-park on the central east coast.
3. Piedmont Triad Farmer's Market
The Piedmont Triad Farmers market is one of the great places to experience the food and commerce of the area in one central place. With fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, and more.
2. Greensboro Childrens' Museum
A really neat experience for children, the museum is a hands-on adventure that teaches through its playful exhibits, and it themed "our town" attractions.
1. Greensboro Grasshoppers Baseball
A New stadium, for an old pastime in Greensboro. Well known as the sport of Greensboro. The Greensboro Grasshoppers play in the shadows of the downtown skyline.
