A letter from Hell

Rift: Religion

Back in the 19th century, an Irish priest named John Furniss wrote some religious literature for children. I have a copy of the entire book, but one of my favorite parts of it is a "delightful" bit called "The Sight of Hell," intended to scare little kids to death about "the bad place."

Bringing this age old tradition into the 21st century, we have "A Letter from Hell"

A correspondent of mine sent this to me, saying that her sister had recommended it as a great thing to share with kids. It's things like this that make me wonder why this religion of "love and light" spends so much effort on fear and guilt. Too much of the time, in too many places... these poor people have lost all contact with what "love" is.

So when you go to Hell, and get burnt, do you go into shock... or does God shut that off just to mess with you?
This is our chance to change things, this is our destiny.

Hell is nothing compared to the lake of fire...
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second,it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

It's odd how the injustice of the concept of Hell is always ignored by the pushers. Oh, they try to rationalize it, but the basic notion of a punishment that is infinite, in response to any finite crime, is not justifiable.

How can a finite person truly understand infinity?

I passed a church this morning. Their announcement board thingy (you know, with all the plastic letters) had something like "Eternity is a long time to find out you were wrong." But then Billy Joel came to mind, "I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints." Granted he doesn't sing anything about infinity, eternity, whatever, but anyway...

So you admit that you support something that you don't have a hope of understanding. How enlightening.

In the lake of fire it will be total darkness and there will no fellowship with any fellow sinners. For eternity. I seriously doubt there will be any laughing. Not good.
