Explain Syria to Me

So, I received an email from a friend in Brussels this morning pointing me to a blog. Considering her aspirations within the political arena here in the U.S., anything she recommends I take very serious.

One would have thought that with the supposed "end of the Cold War," the whole business of proxy wars would have finally ended. But no... bloody world politics could not get away from the old paradigms. There is no reason for this Syrian disaster to happen. Yet it will continue, and get worse... because humanity is f-ing STUPID.

It's funny how I've gone to college, taken the same curriculum as supposedly most of our political leaders have... and we've arrived at two completely different opinions about the world.

I've stood where the World Wars took place, I toured Auschwitz... and war disgust me now.

I'm glad you liked it. I just hope it will make people see the real conflict, which is beyond the poor rebels and an authoritarian regime.
