You have a natural wonder, like a hot-spring (oh say Hot Springs, NC). You know, hot-bubbly water heated by the Earth's internal heat. God's great hot-tub in the south, which should freely be available to every citizen to enjoy its wonders, and you find out someone bought it, privatized it, and now charges $170 room rates, and $30 to sit in a plastic hut-tub where the water is pumped in. WTF?
(Interesting footnote, Hot Springs was used as a prison camp during WWI for German soldiers.)
So we've privatized nature. You must pay to enjoy the Earth, and if you don't you're not entitled to it. What's next, is someone going to buy the air?
While we're at it, let us do away with the National Park System, lets sell the oceans to B.P. (since they spill in them like they're theirs anyways.).
The other day me and Shannon applied for a YMCA grant for our children to go swimming. You know what we were told? We were told we were "too poor" and don't have "enough income" as students to qualify for the low-income grant?
You read that right. A grant that's supposed to help low-income families swim, be healthy, (under the slight proselytizing of Christian values) has a income minimum. Apparently they didn't thing we'd make good Y members, because the cost (above the grant) was beyond our reach (thanks for deciding for us). Maybe it's because we put two moms on the application?
Oh wait, no, we don't have gay discrimination here in NC. None at all.
I say we make it a flippin law that we he have public baths like the Romans in every town!
