Memory Foam Mattress and Americans

What The Funk?

So I'm shopping for a new mattress. Looking for a nice 4lb density queen mattress. Technically I have no idea what to look for, but I'm willing to take a risk. All I know is I want a firm mattress.

So I'm looking on Amazon and see this comment (on a queen mattress):

After buying the Cal king for us, we bought a queen for our daughter's Christmas gift being 5'10 she outgrew her full size regular mattress.

WTF? I slept on a twin in every hostel in Europe for four months, and I'm 6' and adult width? How big is your flippin child if she outgrew a full size mattress?????????????????????????????????????/

HOLY MOTHER OF MATTRESSES!!!!

Before the queen size bed that me and Shan own now, we had a full and both slept in it. Sure her x-formation sleeping pattern leaves me gripping the edge some nights, but for God's sake... why does your 5' 10" daughter need a queen mattress???

Well, I switched to a Twin X-Long in college, because the dorms had 'em and the extra few inches of headroom were nice sometimes. But recently I switched back to a Twin because getting decent, reasonably-priced X-Long sheets is a pain and the extra space taken out of my bedroom (smaller in my house than in my last couple of apartments, even though there's much more room in the house overall) was annoying. And I'm over 5' 10", myself.

As for memory foam: if you haven't used a memory foam mattress before, make sure you go to a store and lie on one for a while first. Personally, I would rather sleep on the floor than a memory foam block, but that's just me. (Well, just me plus the fact that memory foam is expensive, I suppose.)

I'm considering the possibility of buying two twins and making it into a king too. For some reason Shan loves sleeping in the middle of the bed, leaving me on the edge.... I'm thinking maybe that the ridgeline might prevent her from crossing the line in the middle of the night, or else I could install a speed bump for her. :)

The problem is that I'm hoping to do my masters in Europe in a year or so, so I don't want to invest a lot in stuff that's just going into storage.

Well I finally caught a price I couldn't refuse: $220 for a Queen sized:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TR ... UTF8&psc=1

Not sure if I'll like foam or not, but it only needs to last a year or so till we move (hopefully).

It should be here this next week... thought I'd share, since it's a good deal.
