TLC: Sinking below "Honey Boo Boo"

The Learning Channel -- one of the most completely ironic names for a channel EVAR -- is going to try out a concept for another of their hit shows: "Best Funeral Ever"

Which I plan to nickname: "Pimp My Casket."

I can't help wondering how cable channels have managed to stray so very far from the functions their names imply: TLC shows almost nothing to help anyone above the intelligence level of bread mold. Syfy (originally the Science Fiction Channel, created by the great Isaac Asimov) now shows mostly ghost busters (not the comic sort) and some wrestling. The History Channel shows back-woods reality shows ("Ax Men," "Cajun Pawn Stars," "Ice Road Truckers"). The Weather Channel shows about everything under the sun EXCEPT the actual weather forecast...

Seriously, how do all these channels manage to face the world with any sort of self-respect??

And for the record, my ideal funeral would be to cremate me, then incorporate my ashes into a 20-ft tall Blue Devil statue (one holding a basketball in its hands), then place it in a reef off the coast of Wilmington.
