In a prepared Q&A session Sarah eschews the teleprompter for a hi tech iPalm

What were these key facts Sarah wanted to be sure not to forget in this softball session

"Energy", "Tax" and "Lift American Spirits"

HuffPo

I would dearly love to see her take on a hostile Q&A in front of (say) the Democrat caucus.

She's gonna need a much bigger iPalm

Imagine if she got into a televised discussion with Obama, similar to that give and take session with the Republicans the other week...!

Well when you're running for president in 2012...

At Least she didn't tattoo it...
This is our chance to change things, this is our destiny.

Here's the thing that gets me about Palin -- at her Tea Party keynote "speech," she seems to have taken a most juvenile tone. "How's that hope-y, change-y stuff workin' out for you?" This person thinks she has what it takes to be President and get legislation passed through a polarized Congress to fix a nation's problems?

Pathetic. And the fact that she has so many people in this country who take her seriously is even more embarrassing.

Honestly though... we've always criticized the Democrats and the Republicans both of not having the balls to stand up and say stuff.... and here's a woman who does.... I'll give her that. It may be irreverent, but it might be the face of future politics.

Mocking those who are working under tough circumstances is NOT something to be admired. If that's our future, we're far worse off than even I had feared.

This is similar to having Douglas pop up in 1862, and saying "So Abe... I see you have a civil war on your hands. You really fvcked up the country, you know that?"

Isn't this a problem of America in general? Really... how many people these days know etiquette, manners? Respect?

Saw a story on CNN about this palm-reading idiocy. Showed how she went to one event with "Hi, Mom!" written on her palm. And her supporters were ever so happy because she was making fun of the media fuss over her Palm Prompter.

How feckin stupid. This woman can't keep her thoughts straight in her mind long enough to survive a friendly interview, and she expects to be seriously considered for the most important executive position in the hemisphere?

Even I could outshine her as a presidential candidate. This just boggles the mind...

Humour is her best approach for damage control. Even Fox and Friends find it difficult to craft a believable spin. Just listen to the the incredulous 'you do?' and 'really?' which they greet each other's attempt.

"It's Folksy", "She did it on purpose to make a point", "I do it all the time"

Yeah right

Part of me wants to see her run again, for the comedy, but if she gets nominated it would be a sad indictment of American politics (as if needs another)

...and your fecalhead leader offers great entertainment with his trusty teleprompter...

The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of the republic; since it offers a strong moral check against usurpation and arbitrary power of the rulers. - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833

The next silly meme to come from the folk at Fox, since even they know the teleprompter has jumped the shark, is going to be ...

How many times does Obama use the personal pronoun. i.e. "I"

FOX Much attention has been given to President Obama's persistent use of "I" when giving speeches to sell his administration's agenda. Is he taking responsibility -- or, as his critics say, is he still in campaign mode? FoxNews.com is tracking the president's speeches all this month and will report back after each to see whether The "I's" Have It.

They analyze his speech to the DNC and come up with an iRating of 34/3092 words or 1%

Wow. How impressive. Of course while thesumofyourdeepchapsticks will gleefully promote this, there will be some who wonder "how does this compare?" Fortunately someone is on it already - Mark Liberman at Language Log

Sarah, in her iPalm speech, used "I" 118 times in 6,973 words - an iRating of 1.7%

Mark also calculated a iWee rating - how many times the speaker used "I" words compared to "we" words

Obama: We/I: 4.3.
Palin: We/I: 2.09

Sara wees half as often as Obama. And erases her iPalm on her nylons after weeing

Conclusion? 1) Fox News has some very bored interns. 2) Sara wees half as often as Obama. And erases her iPalm on her nylons after weeing. 3) I bet it won't stop them promoting this new iMeme

The latest twist ...

Goddidit too!

God is a bit absent mided and to remember the names of the good guys He engraved them on the palms of His hand. And Sarah is just like a down-to-Earth, folksey God, a sort of female Jesus, dontchaknow.

Isiah
49:15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
49:16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me

To be more Godlike, Sarah is going to tattoo the names of her children on her hands.

From the same speech, Sarah told Canadians

Sarak Pailn wrote:My first five years of life we spent in Skagway, Alaska, right there by Whitehorse. Believe it or not -- this was in the '60s -- we used to hustle on over the border for health care that we would receive in Whitehorse. I remember my brother, he burned his ankle in some little kid accident thing and my parents had to put him on a train and rush him over to Whitehorse and I think, isn't that kind of ironic now. Zooming over the border, getting health care from Canada.

Ha Ha. Ironic? How ironic is it that someone who vociferously opposes socialized medicine as being dangerous and rants about how 'death panels will kill granny' actually abused the hospitality of her neighbours as a child to obtain benefits neither she nor her parents paid for.

I think that's call hypocrisy not irony.

Palin love these little anecdotes - but she seems to tailor them to her audience rather than relying on reality

Skagway News She said new DOT Commissioner Leo von Scheben is committed to a strong ferry system. She added that “a lot of politics were played in the past, and that is why we changed characters,” bringing in sound transportation minds to figure out “how people who are reliant on the ferry system can get from point A to point B with a reliable schedule and service.”
Palin drew from her Skagway past to illustrate her point. Her brother burned his foot badly jumping through a fire, and her mother had to take him down to Juneau on the ferry to the hospital. “All these years later, that’s still what people have to rely on here in some instances,” she said.

Next year we'll hear how when her brother burned his ankle the concerned insurance company flew him by private heliecopter to the Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment. She just doesn't know what the truth is anymore.

What's appalling is that so many Canadians paid the Skagway princess $150 to listen to her vacuous musings.

I read that and it just amazed me that her audience didn't do something to her. According to your story, the loved what she had to say. What sort of insane people live in bloody Calgary, anyway??

We have them too.

e.g. Stockwell Day - a young earth creationist who became the leader of the conservative Alliance Party

He was trounced when he appeard in front of cameras. His YEC became a liability with people producing Barney dolls and whistling the Flintstones theme at public meetings. His brand of overt Pentecostal fundamentalism doesn't o down well with the majority of voters. Most politicians here kep their religion private. He held a highly publiciced photo op at a technology company to bring attention to the 'Brain drain' - which fell flat when the owner of the business pointed out that he had moved to Canada a few years earlier. He also claimed "Canadian jobs were flowing south just like the Niagara River" - which of course flows north.

In other words he was just as inept as Sarah.

He was replaced by Stephen Harper - a characterless robot who got elected because the country was fed up with the Liberal party -- Jean Cretien in particular. Which was unfortunate because although Jean Cretien deserved approbtion, his replacement - Paul Martin - was a social liberal/fiscal conservative who brought the government finances into the black. Unfortunately the animosity between Cretien and Martin resulted in the unpopular Cretien saboutaging his election chances by hanging in until the last minute.

Since then Harper has had a minority goverment teetering on the edge of a non-confidence vote so he hasn't been able to realize his right wing agenda, so it hasn't been too bad.

One more funny thing about Stockwell Day. Day was pushing 'grassroots democracy' platform - one aspect of which was a law requiring a binding national referendum if 3% of the population signed a petition on any subject.

This was lampooned by Rick Mercer (Canada's John Stewart) who arranged a petition to demand Stockwell Day change his name to 'Doris Day' - needless to say considerably more than 3% of the population thought it was a great idea.
