If you haven't heard, the Senate is about to pass their version of the health care bill, one requiring everyone to purchase insurance or be illegal. Sounds like some unfriendly legislation to me, but some are suggesting it's just a strategy. That ultimately the courts will find mandating the purchase of health-care illegal, and in it's place will rise a national health care system ran by the government.

Are democrats smart enough to come up with something like this? To blindside everyone including the Republicans and come out on top?

Because the people in Washington are more beholden to their donors than their voters, and becuse insurance companies are determined to keep their claws in the health insurance business, no true reform will come through. Nothing that truly solves the problems that our system is causing for the country.

As with so many other serious problems in our history, no action will occur until complete collapse takes place and millions of Americans suffer horribly. We as a people never study history, so we don't learn the lessons it can teach.

Well it's passed... now the fun part... they have to make the House version and the Senate version into one bill....
I'm not sure exactly how that's done, if someone knows I'd love to understand....

Do they still require just as many votes, which means the public option is still dead? Or do they need less on the combined bill? My 6th grade history/politics is a bit rusty.

Apparently Bunny from Kansas has taken down her tree, removed the wreath, turned off the lights, thrown out the turkey because God's holiday has been spoiled by passing a Nazi holocaust bill that requires all old folk be immediately gassed. Oh and her son now thinks mom is a raving looney.

Anything that causes this kind of cranial melt down can't be all bad - unless you're related to the crazy.
