The estimated time when whites will no longer make up the majority of Americans has been pushed back eight years -- to 2050 -- because the recession and stricter immigration policies have slowed the flow of foreigners into the U.S. cite

Jungle Fever, not just a movie... your family.

I closed my eyes, drew back the curtain To see for certain what I thought I knew Far far away, someone was weeping But the world was sleeping Any dream will do

I've done my part to breed the albino white skin out of my lineage. Hopefully my children won't get skin cancer from sitting near the window or microwaving a hot pocket.

This of course is scaring the crap out of conservatives. The idea, that they too could one day be a Mexican family... it's like becoming an Ood!

When I was growing up, the schools lauded the idea of America as a Melting Pot of people from all over the world. Of course, that was while schools were still segregated by race... So the term appeared to mean something rather far removed from the image that came to my mind.

Now, the whole business of racial identity seems to be slowly melting away, with so many people getting into racially "mixed marriages" and producing ever more "mulatto" children.

That sort of thing shocked me when I was 12. Now, I think it's just fine. I sure hope that more folks are "just fine" with dropping the racism and other forms of prejudice that we have had in the past by the time 2050 rolls around. Younger folks than me will see for sure, I expect.

Location: 5th circle of hell -- actually not very crowded at the moment.
Speaking personally racism is still prevalent. When I moved back to NC 5 years ago, I had several close friends who didn't realize my spouse or my children were Hispanic, and made comments about "Mexicans". Even my father made some stern comments on immigration to the point of almost being racist.... to which I reminded him his grandchildren wouldn't be here if their great-grandfather didn't jump the proverbial fence. It had no effect on him. Racism is something people don't recognize their apart of unless it's literally black & white.

I mentioned in another thread how an acquaintance of mine knew a client who had gotten a DNA ancestry test and found out she had African/black decent running through her caucasian veins, and upon telling her family and showing the test, they went into a complete state of denial.
