a poll of NC residents shows that 77% of people in the state support the idea of reform. A majority even agree that a government-run insurance plan should be made available.
Maybe Ms. Fox ought to tell her staff not to hang up on folks who call to support change...
She may be right about her constituents. She represents my county, Yadkin. A place where a county commissioner has been quoted as saying "If you're gonna live in Yadkin County, you have to think like Yadkin County". It's not a hotbed of progressiveness. When the court ordered the county to upgrade the jail (broken air conditioner, faulty wiring and plumbing) the commissioners refused until
inspectors closed the jail. Many letters to the local paper stated that criminals didn't deserve to live in luxury. Never mind that the jail isn't luxurious but dangerous, but it is used as a holding facility for those awaiting trial and presumed innocent.
Yadkin County also had the largest Republican to Democrat voting ratio statewide in the last presidential election. I think we voted 70% + for McCain.
So, maybe she only listens to constituents from this part of her district.
